Obama is reportedly urging Biden to rethink 2024 presidential bid, with possibility of dropping out this weekend

Former President Barack Obama is reportedly pressuring current President Joe Biden to reconsider his decision to seek a second term in 2024. Privately, Obama has voiced concerns to Democrats about Biden’s candidacy, indicating that his path to victory has narrowed and his cognitive abilities are under scrutiny. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has also warned Biden that if he does not withdraw from the race, Democrats may lose the chance to regain control of the House.

There have been claims that Obama and Biden had a conversation after a poor debate performance, where Obama suggested that Biden’s chances of winning had dropped. A recent survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that almost two-thirds of Democrats believe Biden should step down. Despite growing pressure from congressional leaders and Democratic allies, Biden has pushed back against calls for him to withdraw.

There are reports that Biden, who is nearly 82 and reportedly diagnosed with COVID-19, may consider dropping out of the race as early as this weekend. However, a campaign adviser has affirmed that Biden is the party’s nominee and plans to run for reelection. The White House also stated that President Biden is focused on working with congressional Democrats to pass his agenda for working families.

While some Democrats, including Pelosi, have warned Biden about the consequences of not stepping down, the President has emphasized that he believes he can win based on recent polling. He has indicated that he would only consider dropping out if a doctor informed him of a medical condition.
