Four individuals were arrested in Indian Township, Maine following an investigation into possible drug trafficking at a home. The suspects, Alex Tomah Jr., Alex Tomah Sr., Taylor Smiley, and Jerkeir Grant, were charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl). This charge was due to the house’s proximity to the Indian Township Community Center, a designated “Safe Zone.” The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Down East Task Force, along with other agencies, conducted controlled purchases of Fentanyl from the home. A search of the house revealed evidence of drug trafficking and use, with money used for the purchases also being recovered. It was suspected that a significant amount of drugs were flushed down the toilet during the search. The Indian Township Police were assisted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Maine State Police Tactical Team, Department of Homeland Security, Indian Township Fire Department, and Indian Township Emergency Management Agency in the investigation. Overall, this case highlights the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking in the area.
