The Franklin County commissioners recently voted to use funds from a dispatch equipment reserve account to pay for a new heat pump at the Regional Communications Center. The decision was made after the center experienced a cooling issue in the computer server room, where temperatures had reached about 100 degrees. The old heat pump, which was more than 10 years old, had operational issues. The new heat pump was ordered and installed by Dave’s World of Windham, bringing the server room temperature down to a more stable 60 to 70 degrees.
During the meeting, two out of three commissioners were unable to attend, resulting in the cancellation of the meeting due to the lack of a quorum. In other business, bids were opened for snow removal contracts at various locations in the county. The commissioners also retroactively approved an application for grant funding to rehabilitate or replace a bridge on Reeds Mill Road in Madrid Township.
Additionally, appointments were made for a new deputy register of deeds and deputy register of probate to replace retirees. The county is taking steps to address various infrastructure and operational needs to ensure the smooth functioning of its services. The decisions made during the meeting reflect the county’s commitment to maintaining and improving its facilities for the benefit of the community.
