High school football players from across Maine are getting ready to showcase their skills in the annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic. The game, which will take place on July 23rd at Thornton Academy in Saco, brings together the state’s top high school seniors for a friendly competition that also serves a charitable cause.
The Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic is a fundraiser for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which provide care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. The event raises money through ticket sales, merchandise sales, and donations, with all proceeds going towards supporting the hospitals and the children they serve.
Players are selected based on their performance during the high school football season, as well as their character and sportsmanship. This year’s roster features athletes from a variety of schools across Maine, giving players the opportunity to compete alongside former rivals and meet new teammates.
In addition to the game itself, the event also includes a number of activities for players and spectators to enjoy. These include a parade, a skills challenge, and a banquet where players can connect with coaches, alumni, and representatives from the Shriners Hospitals.
The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic has become a highly anticipated event for high school football players and fans alike. It not only provides a platform for talented athletes to showcase their skills, but also raises awareness and support for a worthy cause. As players gear up for the big game, they are not only focused on winning on the field, but also on making a positive impact off the field through their fundraising efforts.
