Maine Basketball Hall of Fame Golf Tournament Returns following 4-Year Break

The 10th annual Maine Basketball Hall of Fame golf scramble is set to take place on August 10th at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. This year, the golf scramble will coincide with the Hall’s induction ceremonies for the first time. The event will include a men’s division, women’s division, and mixed division, with the first 36 threesomes to enter participating.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first golf tournament held since 2019, as previous events were hosted at the Aroostook Valley Country Club, which straddles the U.S.-Canada border. With the border reopening, American players will need to go through the Canadian port of entry and drive to the course’s parking lot, adding extra time to their trip.

Participants will enjoy a round of golf with a cart, team gift bags, and a buffet dinner for an entry fee of $125 per person. Cash prizes will be awarded to gross and net place finishes in all divisions, along with hole-in-one prizes, closest-to-the-pin competitions, and a contest for the longest drive.

In addition to the golf tournament, there will be a silent auction featuring prizes such as Boston Celtics and Red Sox tickets, concert tickets, hotel rooms, and golf packages. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame.

Those interested in participating can contact tournament director Larry Gardner via email or phone for more information or to register their team online. Designed as a perfect fit for a Hall of Fame weekend, this year’s event promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience for all involved.
