Emmy-winning actress Felicity Huffman has landed a guest-starring role in the next season of Paramount+’s Criminal Minds spinoff Evolution. Huffman will play Dr. Jill Gideon, a brilliant biological psychiatrist with connections to the lead characters in the series. This marks Huffman’s first major network role since her involvement in the college admissions scandal in 2019. Despite initially facing backlash for her actions, Huffman is looking forward to her comeback in the industry.
Huffman, who previously admitted to paying $15,000 to falsify her daughter’s SAT scores, served 14 days in prison, paid a $30,000 fine, and completed 250 hours of community service. She opened up about feeling “undying shame” for her actions, stating that she felt it was her only option to secure her daughter’s future.
Despite her past mistakes, Huffman’s community service organizer praised her for her dedication to rehabilitation and hard work. Huffman’s role in Criminal Minds: Evolution is a step towards redemption for the actress, who is determined to move forward from her past actions.
Criminal Minds: Evolution premiered in 2022 and features a star-studded cast including Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, and Adam Rodriguez. The spinoff continues the legacy of the original series Criminal Minds, which aired from 2005 to 2020 on CBS. Huffman’s return to television marks a significant milestone in her career as she works towards rebuilding her reputation in Hollywood.
