Rockies Set Franchise Scoring Record in Dominate 20-7 Win over Red Sox

Colorado Rockies’ player Brenton Doyle hit his first career grand slam in a historic victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. The Rockies tied a franchise record by scoring 20 runs in the game, fueled by four home runs. Ezequiel Tovar, Jacob Stallings, and Brendan Rodgers also contributed to the offensive outburst, while Kris Bryant had a strong performance at the plate.

The Rockies’ pitcher Cal Quantrill delivered a solid performance, holding the Red Sox in check as they struggled to find their footing after the All-Star break. The Red Sox made a season-high four errors, leading to six unearned runs. Starting pitcher Nick Pivetta had a rough outing, giving up eight runs in just 2 2/3 innings.

Tensions briefly flared between the two teams in the fourth inning when Reese McGuire and Cal Quantrill exchanged words, but the situation was quickly defused without any ejections.

Colorado took a commanding lead early in the game and continued to build on it, with Ryan McMahon hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning to spark a big rally. Despite a late surge from the Red Sox, led by Jarren Duran and Rafael Devers, the Rockies held on for the win.

Brenton Doyle capped off the scoring with his 17th home run of the season in the sixth inning. With the victory, the Rockies secured their second consecutive series win, showing that they are playing strong baseball as they head further into the season.
