OJ Simpson’s Major Scandals: From Murder Trial to Trophy Heist and Controversial ‘If I Did It’ Book – New York Post

Former football star OJ Simpson has been no stranger to controversy throughout his life. From his infamous murder trial in the 1990s to a bizarre episode in which he attempted to retrieve memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room, Simpson has found himself at the center of a number of scandals.

The most well-known scandal involving Simpson is undoubtedly the murder trial of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in 1994. Despite being acquitted of the murders in a highly-publicized trial, Simpson’s reputation was forever tarnished by the accusations and the subsequent civil lawsuit that found him responsible for the deaths.

In 2007, Simpson found himself in trouble with the law again when he and a group of men attempted to retrieve personal memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room. The incident, which became known as the “trophy heist,” led to Simpson’s arrest and ultimately a conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping. He was sentenced to 33 years in prison, though he was granted parole in 2017.

Perhaps one of Simpson’s most ill-advised moves was the release of his book “If I Did It” in 2006. In the book, Simpson hypothetically describes how he would have committed the murders of Brown and Goldman if he was guilty. The book was met with strong public backlash and was eventually cancelled, although it was later released with a disclaimer from the Goldman family.

Despite his numerous scandals, Simpson remains a polarizing figure in the public eye. His fall from grace as a beloved football star to a controversial figure has made him a subject of fascination for many. Despite his acquittal in the murder trial, Simpson’s legacy will forever be marred by the scandals that have followed him throughout his life.
