Early Monday morning, the Portland Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at 5 Portland Street in Portland, Maine. A 42-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to her arm and was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Just hours later, the suspect, 47-year-old Randy Aron, was located at his residence on 243 High Street. The Special Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiators Team were called in to assist with the incident. After obtaining a search warrant and setting up a secure perimeter, Aron was taken into custody by the Special Reaction Team and charged with aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, and possession of firearms by prohibited persons. A firearm was recovered during the search. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact investigators at (207) 874-8575 or provide information anonymously through the Crime Tip line or by texting keyword “PPDME” to 847411. The Portland Police Department is actively investigating the case and seeking any additional information that may help with the ongoing investigation.
