Mt. Blue High School Senior Devotes Time to Community Service as Varsity Club Member

Mt. Blue High School senior, Abigail “Abbey” Goodspeed, has excelled both on and off the field as a three-sport athlete. Goodspeed’s passion for skiing, soccer, and track-and-field has not only led to success in competitions but has also allowed her to make a positive impact on her school and community.

Beginning her skiing career at Titcomb Mountain just miles away from the high school in Farmington, Goodspeed quickly fell in love with the sport, eventually finishing 10th in the Girls Class A Alpine State Championship. As a member of the high school ski team, she developed lasting friendships and worked to mentor younger students interested in skiing and soccer.

Outside of her athletic endeavors, Goodspeed volunteers as an assistant coach for a local youth soccer team, advocating for student perspectives as the student representative on the school board, and participating in annual fundraisers with the school’s rotary club. Her dedication and leadership have not gone unnoticed as she now looks forward to studying marine biology and wildlife ecology at the University of Maine in the fall.

Goodspeed’s commitment to her school and community demonstrates her desire to give back to the place that has provided her with countless opportunities. Her work both on and off the field showcases her drive to make a difference in the lives of those around her, making her a true role model for student-athletes everywhere.
