Bangor Babes on the Cusp of Summer Baseball League Championship

The Bangor Babes are on the verge of winning the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League championship after a successful season with a 14-4 record. They have advanced to the best-of-three championship series against Old Orchard Beach, whom they defeated in the opening game with a score of 10-9. The next game will be held at Goodall Park in Sanford, followed by a potential deciding game at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.

Despite facing the challenge of having to travel long distances for their playoff games, the Babes have shown resilience and unity as a team. Coach Trevor DeLaite has skillfully managed the team, even with a rotating roster of summer players. The Babes have been able to secure wins and overcome obstacles, such as playing at different fields due to field availability and dealing with weather-related game changes.

The team’s success can also be attributed to standout performances from players like Allen Wheaton, Matt Seymour, Griffin Ruffner, and Liam O’Neal. In their semifinal victory over Augusta, the Babes showcased their strong offensive abilities, led by O’Neal, Tanner Evans, and Sam Economy.

The Babes have received recognition for their outstanding season, with DeLaite being named Coach of the Year and the team earning Organization of the Year honors. Colton Albertson, the team’s general manager, credited the support of the local community, coaching staff, and players for their success. As they gear up for the next championship game, the Babes are focused on securing the title and bringing home the championship trophy.
