After leading the Brewer High School football program for four seasons, Scott Flagg has announced his decision to step down as head coach. The team had a tough season, finishing 1-8 last year. Brewer High School’s athletic director, David Utterback, praised Flagg for being a trusted and reliable figure for the team during uncertain times brought on by the pandemic. Under Flagg’s leadership, the program saw an increase in participation numbers from less than 30 players to more than 55.
Flagg, who previously coached at Hampden Academy, accumulated a 6-23 overall record during his time at Brewer, which included one pandemic-shortened season and three full campaigns. His departure marks the end of an era for the Brewer High School football team, as they will now begin the search for a new head coach to lead them in the upcoming season.
Despite the team’s recent struggles, Flagg’s impact on the program is evident through the growth in participation numbers and the support he provided to student-athletes during challenging times. As Brewer High School looks towards the future, they will undoubtedly seek a coach who can continue Flagg’s legacy of leadership and mentorship on and off the field.
