Marvel Studios has announced the impressive cast lineup for its upcoming superhero team movie, The Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby are set to lead the film as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman, with Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing. Ralph Ineson has also been cast as the supervillain Galactus. The movie, titled The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is set to be released on July 25, 2025, and will be the first iteration of the Fantastic Four set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The film’s plot is being kept under wraps, but a teaser poster and footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con suggest that the movie will explore the team’s comic book origins in a 1960s-inspired universe outside of the main MCU timeline. Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, is set to direct the film, taking over from Jon Watts.
In addition to the main cast, Julia Garner has been added to play Shalla-Bal, and Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as the iconic villain Doctor Doom, who will appear in the upcoming Avengers movies. The Fantastic Four’s inclusion in the MCU marks a new era for the beloved superhero team, promising an exciting and fresh take on the classic characters for fans old and new alike.
