Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has entered its 10th month, sparking fears of regional escalation as attacks spread to Lebanon and Iran. The recent assassination of Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, along with the killing of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut, has intensified tensions in the region.
Since October 7, Israel has launched over 17,000 attacks in the Middle East, targeting countries such as Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. The majority of these attacks have been concentrated in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly the Gaza Strip, with over 10,000 incidents recorded.
Cross-border attacks in Lebanon have escalated since Hezbollah’s initial strikes on Israel in solidarity with Palestinians. Israel has responded with over 6,500 attacks along the border, resulting in numerous casualties. Additionally, Israel has increased its attacks on Syria, targeting Iranian and Hezbollah forces, leading to over 260 casualties since October.
In April, Israel launched strikes on Iran, including an attack on an Iranian consulate building in Syria’s capital Damascus, killing several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The conflict has also spread to Yemen, with Israel targeting the Houthi group in response to attacks on Israeli ports.
The escalating violence in the Middle East has raised concerns about wider regional conflict. The international community has called for a de-escalation of tensions and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
