Former Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis has agreed to cooperate with Arizona prosecutors in exchange for charges being dropped in a fake electors case. Ellis, who previously pleaded not guilty to fraud, forgery, and conspiracy charges, is now working with authorities to provide valuable insights in proving the state’s case. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes stated that the cooperation is a win for the rule of law and upholding American democracy.
Ellis was also charged in Georgia last year for aiding and abetting false statements and writings during a hearing with Rudy Giuliani where false election fraud allegations were made. Prosecutors claim that Ellis, Giuliani, and others made false claims of election fraud in multiple states, including Arizona, and pressured state officials to change the election outcome. Ellis has been barred from practicing law in Colorado for three years due to her guilty plea in Georgia.
In the Arizona case, 11 Republicans submitted a document falsely declaring that Trump had won the state, leading to felony charges against them and others involved. President Biden won Arizona by 10,457 votes, and Trump was referred to as an unindicted co-conspirator in the indictment. The 11 individuals falsely claimed to be Arizona’s Republican electors in a signing ceremony posted on social media, which was later sent to Congress and the National Archives.
Overall, charges related to the fake electors scheme have been filed in multiple states, including Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, and Wisconsin. The cooperation of Ellis in the Arizona case is expected to provide crucial evidence in court and support the prosecution’s case against those involved in the false electors scheme.
