Mark Horn, a resident of Hallowell, has recently released his first solo album titled “Country, Bluegrass & Blues.” He is a multi-instrumentalist who has toured with various artists and bands, including rockabilly legend Sonny Burgess and The Derailers. After playing with and producing for other artists, Horn decided to release his own music. His music has an old-timey sound reminiscent of “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?” which he attributes to his upbringing and influences.
Horn performs every other Sunday at A Small Town Bakery at the Wayne General Store in Wayne with Andy Buckland. He has assembled a group of talented musicians, including Bob Colwell, Andy Buckland, and Joe Flood, to record his solo debut album. Horn emphasizes the importance of authenticity in music and only selects songs that resonate with him personally.
Future performances by Horn and his band, named the Bank Mules, are scheduled for August 18 at the Wayne General Store. They aim to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for the audience, playing music that feels good and is meant to make people feel good. With a focus on banjo and upright bass, Horn’s music is a blend of country, bluegrass, and blues.
Overall, Horn’s passion for music shines through in his performances and recordings. He strives to connect with his audience and provide a memorable experience for all.
