Peter Ralph Clifford, a beloved member of the Northport, Maine community, passed away on August 8, 2024, following a tragic car accident. Born in Belfast in 1949 to Ralph and Dorothy Clifford, Peter considered Belfast to always be his true home, despite living and working in various other places throughout his life.
After graduating from Belfast High in 1971, Peter attended Maine University in Gorham and earned a B.A. in history and education. He went on to work for Waldo County Community Action, as well as serving as a Social Security Representative and Disability Consultant. His determination and dedication to helping others often resulted in successful outcomes for his clients, a fact of which he was most proud.
Aside from his work, Peter’s true joy in life was sharing his love of music with his many friends. His smile and joyful spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Peter is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Elizabeth and her family, his son Nathaniel and his family, as well as his sister Carolyn. A celebration of his life will be held in September, with details yet to be announced.
Volunteers, music, and ideas for the Celebration of Life event are welcome and can be shared with Linda Clifford via email. Peter’s life touched many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
