Joey Lawrence’s estranged wife, Samantha Cope, recently posted a cryptic message about “loss” and “freedom” before filing for divorce in June. The passage she shared on Instagram was taken from Brianna Wiest’s book “101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think” and highlighted the idea of things being a second chance or a detachment long-needed.
In the court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Cope claimed June 11 as the date of separation from Lawrence, with whom she shares a 19-month-old daughter, Dylan. Following their separation, Cope filed for divorce in August, requesting sole physical custody of their daughter.
Lawrence and Cope met on the set of Lifetime’s My Husband’s Secret Brother and got engaged in 2021, marrying in May 2022 and welcoming their daughter in January 2023. However, their relationship ultimately led to divorce after two years of marriage.
The Lawrence brothers, who have been entertainment staples since their days headlining shows like Blossom and Brotherly Love, have had their share of love life drama over the years. Lawrence’s previous marriage to Chandie Yawn-Nelson ended in divorce in 2020 after 15 years. Lawrence himself has mentioned being a “hopeless romantic” and emphasized the importance of being with the right person for happiness.
Despite the ups and downs, the Lawrence family continues to navigate the complexities of their personal lives while remaining in the public eye.
