Former professional kickboxer Andrew Tate has been placed under house arrest by a Romanian court as part of an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Tate, along with his brother Tristan, was among six people taken into custody after authorities conducted home searches in Ilfov county and Bucharest. The Tate brothers were initially detained for 24 hours, but Diicot, Romania’s anti-organized crime prosecuting unit, requested a 30-day arrest for them. However, the judge decided to place Andrew under house arrest and Tristan under judiciary control for that period.
The Tates have denied all allegations against them, including human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to exploit women. Andrew Tate, known for promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle and controversial views on social media, dismissed the accusations as baseless.
Diicot stated that the detainees were involved in crimes such as human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, money laundering, and forming an organized criminal group. Two of the accused allegedly used the “loverboy” method to force 34 victims to produce pornography, which was then sold online for large profits. One defendant is accused of forcing a 17-year-old to produce pornography in the UK and Romania, making $1.5 million in profits. Another defendant reportedly had sexual relations with a 15-year-old victim.
The case highlights the serious nature of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, with authorities seeking to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The Tate brothers’ arrest and the allegations against them have sparked public outrage and drawn attention to the need for stricter enforcement against such crimes.
