A car crash and alleged stabbings in Sydney’s south have left four people, including a police officer, injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Old Bush Road in Engadine at around 9am on Sunday morning. Multiple calls were made to emergency services following the two-vehicle crash.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man with stab wounds allegedly running from the crash site. He was taken into custody with the use of a Taser. During the arrest, a male police officer suffered a serious laceration to his left wrist. A woman in the crashed vehicle was also found with multiple wounds, and a fourth person, whose involvement in the incident remains unclear, was injured as well.
All four individuals were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics. The NSW police minister confirmed that the person of interest had been arrested and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat to the community. The Princes Highway was closed in both directions as investigations continue.
The incident has sparked concern in the area, but authorities have reassured residents that there is no immediate danger. The investigation is ongoing, and details surrounding the events leading up to the crash and stabbings are still being determined. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area due to road closures.
