Death Announcement: Winfield Holden Jackson

Winfield “Win” Jackson, a beloved member of the Monmouth community, passed away at his home on May 25, 2024, one week after his 78th birthday. Born in Lisbon, Win spent his formative years in East Bridgewater, Mass., before moving to Monmouth in 1956. He was a graduate of Monmouth Academy, where he excelled in sports and academics.

After attending Antioch College in Ohio, Win embarked on a career in higher education, working at Wilberforce University and Central State University. He was instrumental in establishing a Co-Op program at CSU, which has since expanded into CSU-Dayton. Win also played a key role in helping Saint Thomas University successfully launch its law school for Spanish-speaking students.

In 1992, Win joined Alternative Manufacturing in Winthrop as a consultant and eventually became the President and CEO. He helped the company grow and succeed, importing money into Maine and fostering a strong workforce. Despite his professional achievements, Win remained a family man at heart, enjoying a happy marriage with his wife Heidi for 57 years and cherishing their daughter Emily, son-in-law Jeremy Johnson, and grandson Henry.

Win, known for his outgoing personality, passion for politics, and love of the Red Sox, also found solace in his home in Monmouth, where he resided for 35 years. He was predeceased by his parents Holden and Dorothy Jackson and is survived by his immediate family and extended relatives.

The final months of Win’s life were made more comfortable by the compassionate care provided by Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Andwell Health Partners in Lewiston, ME. Win’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the impact he made on his community. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
