Five killed in Ukrainian attack on Belgorod, with Russian strike injuring journalists | Update on Russia-Ukraine conflict

Overnight clashes between Kyiv and Moscow escalated as Russia sent more artillery units to the Kursk region to push back Ukraine’s army. The latest exchange resulted in at least five people being killed and 13 others wounded during a Ukrainian strike on Belgorod, according to officials in the Russian region. Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced the death toll, including three minors among the wounded. In response to increased strikes from Ukraine, Russia’s Ministry of Defence dispatched more troops and artillery units to defend the Kursk region.

In a separate incident, an overnight strike in Ukraine by Russian forces hit a hotel in Kramatorsk, injuring two journalists and leaving a third missing. The Reuters news agency confirmed that their team was staying at the hotel during the attack. The Russian Defence Ministry did not immediately comment on the strike. Additionally, Russia launched missiles and drones across northern and eastern Ukraine, damaging a gas pipeline in Kharkiv and causing injuries to seven people, including a child.

Amidst the escalating conflict, Ukraine’s military claimed to have destroyed most of the incoming missiles with their air defences. As the situation continues to unfold, tensions remain high between Kyiv and Moscow. The attacks and casualties underscore the ongoing violence and instability in the region.
