The University of Maine Athletics department is gearing up for an exciting football game night in Orono as they prepare for their home opener against Colgate on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to participate in a ‘Friday Night Lights’ Blue Out at Alfond Stadium by wearing blue to the game. Additionally, fans will receive official Maine Football schedule posters and magnets while supplies last, and UMaine students in attendance will receive thundersticks courtesy of the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein.
The 2023-24 America East Champion women’s basketball team will also be recognized during the game and available for an autograph session before kickoff. After the game, fans can enjoy a postgame fireworks display presented by Phantom Fireworks to celebrate football’s return and the start of the school year.
The beer garden has been relocated to the north end zone, providing fans with a more spacious area to enjoy the game. Tailgate lots will open at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon for fans to start the pre-game festivities. Season and single game tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online, by phone, or in-person at the Alfond Arena box office.
