Auburn Man Faces Charges After Crash Involving Stolen Utility Truck
Ryan Buckingham, 32, is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing a stolen utility truck in Auburn on Wednesday night. The Auburn Police Department has charged him with driving to endanger, aggravated criminal mischief, and operating without a license. Additionally, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is filing additional charges as the utility truck was reported stolen in Livermore Falls.
The incident occurred on Center Street around 10:14 p.m. when Buckingham crashed the 2000 Ford F350, causing it to overturn and bring down a utility pole and power lines, blocking all four lanes of Center Street. The power lines also became entangled over a vehicle driven by Ronald Theriault, but fortunately, he was unharmed.
Buckingham was taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. While the scene was being cleared, another incident occurred involving Keagan Richardson, 22, who crashed into a parked Auburn Public Works truck at an intersection. Richardson was charged with driving to endanger, but no injuries were reported in this incident.
Center Street was reopened by 9 a.m. on Wednesday after authorities had cleared the scene. The investigation into the stolen utility truck and the incidents involving Buckingham and Richardson is ongoing.
