Biker girlfriend sentenced to prison for orchestrating an ambush shooting

Athar Almatrah was sentenced to 20 months in jail for her role in luring Mongols bikie Rocco Curra to a fake Instagram date where he was shot multiple times. Almatrah was promised $5000 by Finks gang members associated with her then-lover in exchange for setting up the meeting as revenge for the shooting of one of their members. While Almatrah did not know about the planned violence, she anticipated that Curra would be seriously injured. Two shooters fired multiple times at Curra, who survived after undergoing surgeries and spending nearly a month in the hospital. The shooting was believed to be in retaliation for another member of the Mongols shooting one of the Finks gang members. Almatrah never received the promised payment for her involvement, and continued to push for it even after police questioned her about the incident. She expressed regret and acknowledged the harm caused by her actions in a letter to the court. Almatrah has already served 43 days in jail and must serve at least half of her 20-month sentence before being eligible for parole.
