The Farmington Falls Fire Co. Inc. recently made a $5,000 donation to support Philbrick Park in Farmington Falls, which will benefit both the park and the Hawks baseball teams. The donation was accepted by the selectmen at a meeting on August 27th, with Junior Turner representing the fire company. Turner mentioned that Farmington has been taking on more responsibilities at Philbrick Park, including mowing, which was previously done by the fire company.
The donation will help enhance the park, which is also used as a baseball field by the Hawks teams. Turner noted that the fire company funds the baseball teams and pays for insurance for players, so they need to maintain a certain amount in their account. The donation will support the park’s improvement projects, such as fixing drainage issues and enhancing amenities like playgrounds and the basketball court.
Matthew Foster, the director of Parks and Recreation, shared plans to revitalize Philbrick Park and other parks in the town. In addition to enhancing existing facilities, the department is looking to expand into underserved areas of town by adding new parks or structures. The ultimate goal is to create inviting spaces for the community to enjoy.
Farmington Falls residents have shown support for maintaining and improving Philbrick Park, which serves as a focal point for the community. With the donation from the Farmington Falls Fire Co. Inc. and ongoing efforts from the town, the park is set to receive much-needed upgrades that will benefit residents and visitors alike.
