Britta Denny, a talented soccer player from Rockport, Maine, has verbally committed to play for the University of Maine’s Black Bears next fall. Denny, a two-time All-Northern Maine attacking midfielder from Camden Hills High School, is excited to represent her state and play close to home so her parents can attend games. She will be following in the footsteps of two other Camden Hills alumni who have played for the Black Bears.
Denny’s decision to commit to UMaine was influenced by the program’s strong coaching staff, quality of players, and plans for a new artificial-turf soccer facility. She is currently focused on her upcoming high school season, aiming to win a state championship with her team.
Denny’s high school coach, Meredith Messer, has no doubts about Denny’s potential to succeed at the collegiate level, citing her skills, field vision, and work ethic. Denny is also aware of the physical demands of college soccer and is focused on building her strength to prepare for the competition.
UMaine head coach Scott Atherley reached out to Denny with interest in her as a player, along with other schools, but UMaine’s program and environment ultimately won her over. Denny’s commitment is contingent on meeting NCAA eligibility requirements and being admitted to the university.
Overall, Denny’s journey from high school standout to college recruit highlights her determination to achieve her goal of playing college soccer and the potential for her to make an impact at UMaine.
