Renowned poet Robert Carr will be reading his poetry at Rockland Public Library on September 19 at 6:30 p.m. Carr, the author of five poetry collections, has had his work featured in various prestigious publications. His upcoming collections include “Phallus Sprouting Leaves” and “Blue Memento”. The event is free and open to the public, sponsored by Millay House Rockland, Maine Humanities Council, Maine Women Writers Collection, OUT Maine, and Rockland Public Library.
In addition to the reading, Carr will be leading a free teen poetry workshop entitled “Finding Guides” earlier in the day at Millay House Rockland. The workshop is sponsored by OUT Maine and no prior poetry experience is necessary. Millay House Rockland, a nonprofit organization, aims to support poets, creators, and practitioners of all arts by celebrating the legacy of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Midcoast Maine.
Carr, who is also a co-editor for the Ghana Literary Group anthology “Bodies and Scars”, a 2022 Monson Arts resident, and a 2024 Tuscany writer in residence with SPOKE, is a highly respected figure in the literary community. His appearance at Rockland Public Library promises to be an engaging and inspiring event for poetry lovers and aspiring poets alike.
