Tropical Storm Yagi Wreaks Havoc in Philippines, Leaving at Least 11 Dead | Weather News

A tropical storm in the Philippines has caused devastating floods and landslides, resulting in the death of up to 11 people. Tropical Storm Yagi hit the north of the country, with heavy rains triggering mudslides and flooding in many areas. This storm is just one of the approximately 20 big storms and typhoons that hit the Philippines each year between late June and October.

As a result of the storm, schools and government offices in the capital Manila were shut down, ferry services were suspended, and 29 domestic flights were canceled. The storm also caused casualties in various areas, including three people killed in a landslide in Antipolo and two people, including a baby girl, killed in Naga due to flooding.

More than 300 people remained in evacuation camps on Monday, and landslides in Cebu killed two people and damaged five houses. These recent disasters are a grim reminder of the destructive power of typhoons in the Philippines, with Typhoon Gaemi in July resulting in at least 22 deaths due to heavy rain and flooding.

The Philippines is no stranger to natural disasters, and the government and local authorities are working to provide necessary assistance to those affected by the storm. As the country continues to deal with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Yagi, efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in the affected areas.
