Cathay Pacific cancels flights due to Rolls-Royce engine issue – live updates on Business

Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific has been forced to cancel 24 return flights due to a problem with Rolls-Royce engines on its Airbus A350s. This issue has led to the suspension of several flights across Asia as the airline conducts precautionary checks. The only flight remaining from Hong Kong to Singapore today will be operated by a Boeing 777-300 jet. Cathay Pacific’s engineering director, Keith Brown, mentioned that rigorous inspections are being carried out on each aircraft and those with technical issues will undergo further repairs. Shares in Rolls-Royce fell by 6.5% following the news of Cathay’s problems. Despite this, other airlines using the A350-1000 have not grounded their aircraft and are operating normally. Japan Airlines, another carrier with the A350-1000 jets, has requested more information from Rolls-Royce but has not stopped their flights. The issue is suspected to be related to deformed or degraded fuel lines. The aviation industry remains vigilant as more information is awaited to address this concern.
