Mets defeat Red Sox, 4-1 with Francisco Lindor leading the way

The New York Mets continued their hot streak on Monday night with a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox. Luis Severino pitched seven strong innings, while Francisco Lindor led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Brandon Nimmo also contributed with a key RBI double and a fantastic defensive play in center field.

With this victory, the Mets have won five straight games and are now just a half-game behind the Atlanta Braves for the final National League wild card spot. Lindor has been in top form, reaching base in a career-high 31 consecutive games and currently riding a 13-game hitting streak.

The Mets now boast a record of 74-64, marking the first time they have been 10 games over .500 since the end of the 2022 season. Severino’s solid pitching performance, combined with the team’s effective offense and defense, propelled them to this important win.

On the other side, the Red Sox struggled once again offensively, managing just one run for the third straight game. Jarren Duran provided their lone RBI with a single in the third inning. Pitcher Brayan Bello was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs in five innings.

In other news, the Mets made some roster moves, including placing DH J.D. Martinez on the paternity list and recalling OF DJ Stewart from Triple-A Syracuse. With their recent success and a tight race for the wild card spots, the Mets are looking to continue their winning ways and secure a postseason berth.
