The man, identified as 43-year-old Jonathan Wood, crashed into a Maine State Police trooper’s vehicle parked at a gravel turnout on Route 180. Trooper Ryan Murray, who had been in the parked cruiser at the time of the incident, was not seriously injured and was released after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
According to a spokesperson from the Maine Department of Public Safety, Shannon Moss, Wood had been traveling southbound on Route 180 before veering off the road and colliding with the trooper’s vehicle. Wood was ejected from his van, which had rolled over in the crash. It was reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and tragically died at the scene.
