Richmond boys soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over St. Dominic with goals from Rhys Terry and Kenny Mechum. Ben Fournier contributed an assist for Richmond. In another game, Mt. Blue defeated Oxford Hills 4-1, with goals from Agusti Garcia, Nate Zeliger, Stevie Davis, and Lincoln Tierney. Temple Academy also had a successful season opener with a 4-1 win over Spruce Mountain, led by Frank Addison’s two goals.
On the girls’ side, Lawrence beat Cony 3-0, with goals from Taylor Pellerin, Zoie Ward, and Maddie Provost. In another matchup, Old Orchard Beach defeated Richmond 2-0 with goals from Tessa Ferguson and Corinne Androkitis. In field hockey, Cony dominated Winslow with a 9-0 win, led by Abby Morrill’s three goals and an assist. Gabby Vachon also had a strong performance with two goals and two assists.
Overall, it was a successful day for local high school sports teams with impressive performances and strong starts to the season. Richmond, Mt. Blue, Temple Academy, Lawrence, Old Orchard Beach, and Cony all showcased their talent and determination on the field, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
