Su’a is involved in indoor netball and runs a gym that was established by him and his wife in Hastings. His daughter coaches the premier team, and they have experienced success at national competitions. Su’a believes that the key to success for the under-23 team was starting together at a younger age and progressing through the ranks. The gym, Hikoi 4 Life, was created with the help of the community and offers affordable health and fitness services to people of all ethnicities, including a low-cost indoor netball court. The gym won a New Zealand Community Excellence Award in 2015. Su’a credits the support of the community and the efforts of individuals like Leslie Hokianga, Paul Taiti, and Darryl Mohi for the success of the gym and its programs. The initiative was supported by government subsidies and aims to promote health and fitness for people of all ages. Through the support of the community and government officials like Turiana Turia and Tururoa Flavell, the gym has been able to create a space where people can come together, exercise, and play sports like indoor netball.
