Successful test run brings hyperloop transportation at 700km an hour closer to reality


Dutch company Hardt recently celebrated a successful test of its hyperloop prototype at its test centre in the Netherlands. The hyperloop concept involves capsules traveling through a tube on magnetic fields at speeds of up to 700 km/h, aiming to revolutionize transportation.

During the test, the vehicle was able to levitate, activate the guidance and propulsion systems, and achieve a top speed of 30 km/h within the tube. While the current speed is modest, the company plans to increase it to 700 km/h in the future. The hyperloop concept was first proposed by Elon Musk as a way to commute between Los Angeles and San Francisco in just 30 minutes.

The technology requires a vacuum tube to reduce internal air pressure and drag, allowing for high-speed travel. Hardt believes its hyperloop will be ready for passenger operations by 2030, offering a more efficient alternative to short-haul flights, high-speed rail, and freight trucks. However, significant investment in infrastructure and collaboration between public and private sectors will be necessary to make the hyperloop a reality.

Despite the challenges, Hardt’s successful test marks a significant milestone in the development of the hyperloop technology. The company’s Commercial Director, Roel van de Pas, emphasizes the need for technology, policy, and collaboration to bring the hyperloop to fruition. With continued progress and innovation, the hyperloop could potentially transform the future of transportation.
