Renowned author Morgan Talty to deliver keynote address at UMA Convocation Ceremony

Author and Penobscot Indian Nation citizen Morgan Talty will be delivering the keynote address at the University of Maine at Augusta Convocation Ceremony on Friday, September 20. The ceremony, marking the beginning of the academic year, will include the celebration of achievements, honoring Rising Scholars, and the launch of this year’s academic theme, Indigeneity.

Talty, known for his debut novel “Fire Exit” and short story collection “Night of the Living Rez,” has received numerous prestigious literary awards for his work. As part of UMA’s academic theme activities, Talty’s book “Night of the Living Rez” has been adopted as the single theme-related book for the year.

The event will take place at the Augusta Civic Center and is open to the public. Copies of Talty’s recent books will be available for purchase at the ceremony. UMA aims to provide high-quality education to students of all ages and backgrounds, offering distance and on-site education, student support, civic engagement, and various academic programs.
