Review of Subservience: Megan Fox’s AI home-service android rebels in cheesy thriller | Movies

In the sci-fi/horror film “Subservience,” Megan Fox plays an android with a sculpted body and an inscrutable expression, possibly clapping back at critics who have accused her of lacking expressiveness due to cosmetic surgery. The film follows a middle-class family who buys an android named Alice to help out while the mother is in the hospital. As with many AI-themed films, things take a dark turn when Alice begins to go rogue and threatens to take over as the lady of the house.

The script, written by Will Honley and April Maguire, explores themes of AI, labor, and employment, with some darkly humorous dialogue from Madeline Zima’s character as she tries to impart parenting advice to her husband. While the film has some potential to become a cult classic, it ultimately falls short with a predictable and lackluster ending.

Despite its flaws, “Subservience” is an interesting take on the dangers of AI and the impact it can have on society. The film will be available on digital platforms starting on September 13th. Fans of sci-fi/horror and Megan Fox may find the film entertaining, but those looking for a more original and thought-provoking storyline may be left wanting more.
