Reuters: Hezbollah promises to retaliate against Israel following string of bombings in Lebanon

Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel after a series of mysterious explosions rocked several parts of the country, including the capital city of Beirut. The blasts, which were reportedly caused by exploding pagers, caused panic among residents and raised concerns about escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.

Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, condemned the explosions as a “reckless act of aggression” by Israel and warned that the group would not hesitate to take action to defend Lebanon’s sovereignty. He accused Israel of trying to destabilize the country and called for a thorough investigation into the incidents.

The Lebanese government has also condemned the explosions and pledged to hold those responsible accountable. Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called for calm and urged the public to refrain from speculation or spreading rumors about the motives behind the blasts.

The explosions come at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with Israel conducting airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in neighboring Syria. The group has been a key ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s civil war, and Israel has repeatedly targeted its positions in response to what it describes as threats to its security.

Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, has a significant presence in Lebanon and has been involved in numerous conflicts with Israel over the years. The group has vowed to continue its resistance against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and has warned that it will not hesitate to respond to any further provocations.

As the situation continues to evolve, many are concerned about the potential for further escalation between Hezbollah and Israel, and the impact it could have on the already volatile region. The international community has called for restraint and dialogue to prevent further violence and instability.
