California Teamsters have decided to endorse Kamala Harris for president, despite the national union deciding not to make an endorsement in the presidential race. The decision by the California Teamsters comes after polling data showed a majority of union members favored Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump continues to make false and offensive claims during his rally in New York, including falsely claiming he won more votes in 2020 and making disparaging remarks about immigrants. Trump also announced plans to turn Ground Zero into a national monument, though it remains unclear what this distinction entails.
In response to the FBI’s announcement that Iranian hackers sought to interfere in the election to help Harris and Biden, the Trump campaign issued a statement claiming the Iranians are trying to interfere in the election to benefit the Democratic candidates.
Additionally, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announced a “recalibration” to account for the decline in inflation since last year, aiming to prevent any weakening in the job market. Powell’s decision has been seen as an effort to avoid unnecessarily trading higher unemployment to reach the central bank’s 2% inflation target. This move has been seen as potentially securing Powell’s legacy as Fed Chairman.
