Israel escalates air strikes on southern Lebanon amid rising tensions | Conflict between Israel and Palestine continues to escalate

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has stated that Hezbollah will “pay an increasing price” as Israel continues to target Lebanon in response to recent attacks. Israeli warplanes have carried out dozens of air raids in southern Lebanon, causing some of the most intense bombing since the conflict started in October. The Israeli military has targeted rocket-launchers and infrastructure, with the aim of creating safe conditions for residents near the border to return.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has promised retaliation for the attacks on its members and has stated that operations against Israel will continue until the aggression on Gaza stops. Hamas has expressed appreciation for Hezbollah’s support, frustrating Israel’s efforts to undermine the support for Gaza.

The White House has called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to lower tensions in the region. Meanwhile, a preliminary investigation by Lebanese authorities has found that the devices used in the attacks were implanted with explosives before arriving in the country and were detonated via electronic messages. Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a low-level conflict since October, with fears of escalation following recent targeted killings of commanders in both organizations.

The situation remains tense, with Israel warning of potential further military operations against Hezbollah. The region continues to be on edge as both sides exchange threats and retaliatory actions.
