Augusta’s Kickoff to Fall Fair at Mill Park was a popular event over the weekend, attracting fairgoers for one last fix of fair food and rides before the season officially ended. The event featured fried Oreos, a favorite among attendees like Randi and Michael Shaw, who came specifically for the deep-fried treat. The fair, organized by the Augusta Downtown Alliance and Smokey’s Greater Shows, offered traditional fair food and popular rides like the Ferris wheel. For some, like the Mortons, the rides were the main attraction, while others, like Patricia Bates and Debbie Martin from Smokey’s, highlighted the appeal of the fair food, especially the fried dough. The fair is not only a fun community event but also a fundraiser for the Downtown Alliance, with 20% of ticket sales going towards the organization. Executive Director Jeremy Ashlock praised downtown Augusta’s unique and special atmosphere and the success of the fair’s first day. With a steady turnout and smaller attendance compared to larger fairs, the Kickoff to Fall Fair is helping to support Augusta’s strong community spirit. The fair continued on Sunday from 1-6 p.m., offering a final opportunity for attendees to enjoy the rides, food, and festivities.
