UMaine men’s hockey ranked 12th in national preseason poll

The University of Maine men’s hockey team is gearing up for an exciting season after being picked 12th in the United States College Hockey Online preseason poll. This is the highest the team has been ranked since the 2010-11 season when they were selected seventh. Coming off a strong 23-12-2 record last year and being ranked 10th in the final USCHO poll, the Black Bears are expected to have another successful season.

Defending national champion Denver leads the preseason poll, with Boston College and Boston University following close behind. UMaine is looking forward to challenging matchups against these top teams throughout the season. The team will kick off their season on October 5th with a game against American International College.

The Black Bears will be returning nine of their top 12 scorers, their entire defense, and their starting goalie. They are also welcoming some promising new talent to the team, including transfers from other schools. Sophomore winger Josh Nadeau, a key offensive player, has been selected to the All-Hockey preseason team by the media.

While the loss of Bradley Nadeau, the team’s top scorer from last season, is a blow to the Black Bears, they are determined to build on their success from the previous year. With a favorable preseason ranking and a strong roster, UMaine is poised for an exciting and competitive season on the ice.
