Lim Ee Jin, commercial marketing manager for IHG Resorts in Asia and Australasia, shares her love for white carrot cake, a simple yet comforting local dish that holds sentimental value for her. Her favourite hawker stall for this dish is Chey Sua Carrot Cake at 127 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, where she enjoys the perfectly fried carrot cake with a crispy egg and a layer of chili paste.
Having first tried this dish almost two decades ago on a recommendation from the Makansutra food guide book, Lim has been a loyal customer ever since. The stall has remained at the same location for 50 years, run by the same sisters who continue the tradition started by their parents. Lim enjoys bringing her family and friends to the stall to share the experience.
Lim believes in the joy of sharing good food with loved ones, a value instilled in her by her grandmother, who was a skilled cook. She enjoys spending time with family and friends over a good meal, cherishing the memories created around food. Lim’s dedication to promoting local cuisine and sharing her favorite dishes highlights her passion for culinary experiences and preserving food traditions.
