Colby College Generously Offers Field House Access to Community Seniors
Colby College has made a generous offer to the greater Waterville community by opening their field house to individuals aged 55 and older. In partnership with MaineGeneral Medical Center, the indoor track is available for use Monday through Thursday from 9-11 a.m. This opportunity is especially helpful during the winter months when outdoor exercise may not be feasible.
The field house will only be closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, ensuring consistent access for community members. A simple sign-in sheet will be provided for first-time users, along with guidelines such as the requirement to wear soft sole shoes for walking.
Residents like Bill Millis of Oakland have expressed their gratitude to Colby College for providing this valuable opportunity for older adults to stay active and healthy. The indoor track offers a warm and safe environment for exercise, addressing the need for accessible fitness options in the community.
This initiative not only benefits seniors in the Waterville area, but also fosters a sense of community engagement and support. By opening their doors to older adults, Colby College is exemplifying their commitment to the well-being of the local population.
For more information on accessing the field house at Colby College, interested individuals can reach out to the college or MaineGeneral Medical Center. Let’s take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to stay active and healthy this winter.
