Chelsea Town Office Offers Children the Chance to Send Letters to Santa
The Chelsea Town Office is spreading holiday cheer this season by giving children in town the opportunity to write letters to Santa and receive a reply back from the North Pole. Spearheaded by part-time town clerk Dot Grady, this new initiative aims to not only bring joy to children and their families but also assess the needs within the community.
Starting on December 1, children can drop off their letters in a special box decorated with a Christmas theme outside the town office. To receive a reply from Santa, families are asked to provide a return envelope with their address. Grady and her team have organized stationery for the nice list and envelopes that match, with different authors ready to respond to the letters.
In addition to the Letters to Santa event, Grady has been actively involved in a 12 Months of Giving program in town, where each month focuses on a different charity or cause. This program has already seen success, raising funds for heating assistance and collecting pet food for community members.
Grady’s dedication to giving back to the community has not gone unnoticed, as she and her husband were recipients of the Spirit of America Award in 2023 for their volunteer work in town. In addition to the Letters to Santa initiative, Grady is also helping organize the annual Christmas Social on December 8, featuring activities such as writing letters to veterans, caroling, and a town tree-lighting ceremony.
Through these efforts, Chelsea is creating a sense of community and holiday spirit, with the town office serving as a central hub for festivities. Children have until December 14 to send their letters to Santa and receive a reply, making this a special opportunity for families in Chelsea during the holiday season.
