Local Man Arrested in Connection with String of Break-Ins in Phillips
Phillips – In a joint operation, detectives and deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a home on Pleasant Street in Phillips, as well as two other locations, resulting in the arrest of Stephen Kennedy, 34. The search yielded more than five dozen items believed to have been stolen during a series of recent break-ins including camp breaks, storage facility breaks, and a residential burglary.
Among the items recovered were Milwaukee tools, camping gear, a safe, dirt bikes, chainsaws, a ladder, a boat motor, coolers, a solar panel, fly fishing rods, and a canoe paddle, valued at over $20,000. Kennedy was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, and unlawful possession of fentanyl. Police also stated that other suspects have been identified in connection with the case.
The search warrant and subsequent arrest came after a month-long investigation by law enforcement. Kennedy was transported to Franklin County Jail and is currently being held. The case is still ongoing as police continue their efforts to apprehend any other individuals involved in the break-ins.
The collaborative effort between detectives and deputies led to the successful recovery of numerous stolen items and the apprehension of Kennedy, bringing some relief to the community of Phillips. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office stated that they will continue to work diligently to ensure justice is served in this case.
