Chairman Tran Thanh Man Urges National Assembly: Avoid Hasty Amendments for Urgent Matters

The meeting discussed amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance to institutionalize Party policies, improve health care management, and overcome current limitations. The proposal includes adjusting subjects participating in health insurance, expanding benefits, budget management, and enhancing primary health care. The Law Committee supports the need for amendments and requested clear reporting on future amendments to fully institutionalize Party policies. The National Assembly Standing Committee voted to add the Law project to the 2024 plan, emphasizing a focus on urgent and necessary content. The National Assembly Chairman stressed the need for thorough research before amending just a few articles and emphasized the urgency of completing the Law project by September. The Vice Chairman requested prompt preparation for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee.
The meeting concluded with approval from the National Assembly Standing Committee to include the Law project in the 2024 Law and Ordinance Development Program. This decision was deemed urgent to synchronize with existing medical laws and meet practical requirements. It was emphasized that the submission of the Law project at the Eighth Session is a priority, urging the Government and the Ministry of Health to efficiently prepare the necessary documentation and ensure quality for submission. The Social Committee was instructed to collaborate closely with relevant agencies to ensure active participation in the process.
