The National Assembly recently passed the Law on Cultural Heritage, showing their special concern for protecting and preserving Vietnam’s cultural values on Vietnam Heritage Day. The law was amended to ensure clear, concise regulations that align with current reality, define tasks and powers clearly, and minimize duplication of regulations with other laws. The law consists of 9 chapters and 95 articles, focusing on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people for sustainable development. It addresses areas such as establishment of cultural heritage, State policies for protecting and promoting cultural heritage, and management of national relics. The law also emphasizes decentralization in authority for managing cultural heritage and completion of the legal framework for using and exploiting cultural heritage. The law aims to resolve institutional bottlenecks, synchronize with existing laws, and comply with international treaties. It comes into effect on July 1, 2025. Overall, the Law on Cultural Heritage aims to enhance the protection, preservation, and promotion of Vietnam’s cultural heritage values in line with national development goals and international standards.
