Tula is representing Maine in this year’s Puppy Bowl

Tula, an 8-month-old Siberian husky-Great Pyrenees mix, will be representing Maine in this year’s Puppy Bowl, airing on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event, which raises awareness about pet adoption, will feature Tula along with over 140 rescue and shelter puppies competing for the coveted Lombarky trophy. Tula was adopted from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland over the summer and will be showcasing the organization’s foster program during the game.

The Puppy Bowl is a three-hour event that is more about sweetness than scoring, with side competitions including Most Valuable Puppy and an Underdog award. This year’s game promises “more puppies than ever before” and will feature a cat-filled halftime show. The event aims to inspire families across the country to adopt a new furry friend.

Tula, who was brought to Maine from Georgia along with her siblings, currently lives in Fairfield with a loving family who describes her as sweet, good-natured, and playful. The Puppy Bowl will be broadcast on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, and truTV, as well as online via Max and Discovery+.

In honor of Tula’s participation in the Puppy Bowl, the ARL will be hosting a watch party at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Portland, where guests can watch the show, learn more about adoption, and even meet Tula herself. The event is open to everyone, and the ARL hopes it will attract potential adopters, volunteers, and supporters.
