Black Bears participate in competitions at Harvard and Boston University


The University of Maine women’s track and field team recently competed in two meets over the weekend, showcasing their talent and dedication. At the Harvard Crimson Elite meet on Friday, the team put in a solid performance with standout results from athletes such as Abby Rodriquenz and Cheyenne Figueroa. The following day at the Scarlet and White Invite hosted by Boston University, the team continued to impress with strong finishes from Kelcie Horst and Helen Shearer.

Overall, the team demonstrated their skills in various events including sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws. Notable achievements include Helen Shearer’s impressive time in the 1500m race, now ranked 3rd in Maine’s record book. Cheyenne Figueroa also stood out with a 2nd place finish in the weight throw event.

Looking ahead, the Black Bears are gearing up for the America East Indoor Championships on Feb 22 and Feb 23. With a talented roster and a drive for success, the University of Maine women’s track and field team is ready to continue their pursuit of excellence in the upcoming competition.
